StrangeUSA.com - Consolidating the vast ammount of 'American Strange Stuff' out there into 1 easy to use place. Haunted buildings, places, Urban legends, cemetaries, wierd places, cool places, ghost towns, and anything else thats worth your time to visit.
We also try to make sure that everything you could need to know about a place is readily available to you, before you actually get there. Every listing is integrated with a research tool, and maps. We take it even a step further by providing features to help you judge whats best to do with your time. We let everyone donate to every listing with pictures and comments. Members (free membership) can also list off places they have been, post their own places, and vote on listings.
We have been playing with the idea for this site for years, but only recently got arround to actually doing it. We both love to see wierd stuff, and judging by the 3k miles we put on one of our cars this month... I guess you can say we like to drive. We noticed that most sites that specialize in 'wierd' or 'haunted' places lack some basic features that we wanted, for example a search. Having a single page with a thousand listings was a bit rough for us to use. Also we found it insanely time consuming to research all this information out there. Plus the lack of address's made it nearly impossible to pick 5 places in a rough area, get the locations, plan the trip, and complete it in 1 night.
Thus the site was born... We have devoted ALL of our spare time to researching these places, posting address's, and trying to make sure that any place listed, has an accurate description.
We also thought up some good ideas along the way, Showing a random haunt, showing the worst, the best, most popular, and then to further enhance every listing by letting people leave comments, vote on locations, and then to allow people to EASILY research these places on their own.
While we would LOVE to only have personal experiences posted on this site, it is impossible for us to check out every story.... It would take us years. So you will likely run into a few bunk places.
When/If that happens we STRONGLY encourage you to come on and let us know! make sure others dont waste their time as well.
And vice versa, if you see an awsome place come on in, post your story, and your pictures! we would love to read it!
