Ever since we started the Music Genome Project (http://pandora.com/mgp.shtml), our friends would ask:
Can you help me discover more music that I'll like?

Those questions often evolved into great conversations. Each friend told us their favorite artists and songs, explored the music we suggested, gave us feedback, and we in turn made new suggestions. Everybody started joking that we were now their personal DJs.
We created Pandora so that we can have that same kind of conversation with you.

Just a note here, this service is incredible. Nothing shady here, this music is liscensed to this site and it covers everything old, new and in between. It is cd quality. You pick the songs or artists via multiple personal choice stations you setup. Music will then be played that is similar to what you chose. NO COMMERCIALS!!!

Make no doubt about this one its a bookmarker for sure...

Stumbled on this a few weeks ago and im still stunned how good it is with no strings attatched. You can pause the player. You can fast forward through songs ( limited by the hour. Oddly though you can actually still ff as much as you like by jumping between your stations )

Be sure to mouse over the images of the artists playing and give a thumbs up or thumbs down, this helps to build the library of personalized music based on your likes and dislikes.

So far this is as close to a free online iPod as you can get.

A visitor of my site recommended this little application in a comment and I decided to give it a try and see how well it works. 3tunes (http://3tunes.codingproject.com/) is relativly stable considering the fact that it is still in alpha development stage.

All you need is to download the file which is only about 20k in size and head to the pandora (http://www.pandora.com/) website. Once the first song starts playing you double click the 3tunes executable and it automatically shows the song which is currently played.
It saves the songs in c:/, I suggest you visit this from time to time to move and copy the songs that you´ve been listening to and like. I found no way to change the download location, there is actually no configuration file at all. This will be added in a future release probably.

Make sure you register with pandora to hear an unlimited amount of songs, the guest account is only good for a few songs after it asks you to register to keep listening.
