WINGS WIN! WINGS WIN! The Stanley Cup is ours for the fourth time in 11 years!
I was at the sports bar down the way rooting them on last night. Hell yeah! Michigan is awash in good feelings right now.
I went and stocked up on some reserve beer at 1:30am CST this morning and everyone in the supermarket was pumped. They saw my Red Wings jersey and cheered. Cheered! I felt like I was part of the championship team or something. Celebration time, baby! Everyone rallied around the home team for good or for bad this year and they came out winners in big way.
It came down to the final seconds. I mean the puck for the Penguins almost went into the net - by a fraction of an inch at the last second - and damn near sent the game into OT. Wow, whatta finish! Inches, fractions of an inch made the difference!
Notes: The victory parade is set for Friday. ... Detroit had at least 30 shots in every game of the finals. ... The Penguins failed to reach double digits in shots in the final 13 periods of the finals. ... The Red Wings were 13-1 when scoring first in the playoffs.
Our state needed a boost after all the tough economic news we have had over this past year as I'm sure Wiggles and ZeroAccuracy will agree. Go Red Wings! Detroit is and always will be "Hockeytown USA"!
