I caught this on E-Bay. It's 90-ish miles away from me, so I can get a ride there. He had a "Buy It Now" price of $4999. I mailed him saying I absolutely have $4g's to spend, and I'm 90% sure I can get a loan for $5g's by Friday. With any luck, he'll call me back later today (when I'm awake) and either settle on 4 or 5g's ($4000 is one helluva down payment on a $5000 loan....) From what I've seen, it seems to be a good deal, so maybe I'll get myself a Jeep before weeks end. You can see it here: (PS: I'm Stigglet242) Jeepage (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Rebuilt-Hopped-up-ready-for-summer-NO-RESERVE_W0QQitemZ190211673600QQcmdZViewItem?hash=i tem190211673600)

Hehehe. Not yet, JTM. For some reason, the auction got pulled off of EBay. He doesn't know why. He called me today and said that because I was the top bidder (and the only person to give him his phone number), I could have it for the price he quoted earlier. Getting a hold of Ebay tech support is about as realistic as calling the president up, it seems, and he didn't want to re-list it. So I'll check it out this weekend, and if it's all good, It's mine.

His rating was 100% good feedback, 40 some odd auctions. I guess he sells Radio Controlled Airplanes usually.

Beware of Jeeps, MoHarm. They can look great, but have many problems. Steering and suspension issues, transmission issues, electrical issues, brake issues. The engine is great, seating is great, and they do deliver as promised. A student of mine purchased a Corvette through Ebay, car was located in California. Took six weeks to arrive, body wise OK, needed all four calipers replaced, several suspension pieces, exhaust manifold rusted out. He gave $16,000 for it. It was worth $3000, maybe $4000 on a "good" day. Buyer beware!

That's why I found something local-ish. So I can kick the tires and light the fires before I drop cash off for it. And I know all about jeep's and their tendencies... love 'em anyway.

It is better to kick the tire in person that to kick tires over the Internet. Nothing drives like a Jeep. We had one at the dealership for shoveling snow, towing in dead cars, etcetera. The turning circle is remarkable. And there is no more macho vehicle short of a Hummer H1, not an H2 or H3 since they are just wanabes. Here's wishing you good luck on finding the Jeep of your dreams, MoHarm, you deserve it.

Yeah, the H2's and H3's are built on a Chevy Silverado bed. So basically, you get a silverado with a flashy Hummer exterior. I'd personally choose an actual military Humvee over even an H1, They have more goodies.
