Big Dog (AKA Mule)

This is the new prototype out of DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Project Agency). They call it "Big Dog", but it looks (and works) more like a mule to me. It weighs about 245 lbs and can carry 340 pounds of soldiers gear. The fooker is seriously all-terrain. Check out where the guy kicks it. Now that's recovery.

That's pretty cool. I like the way it recovered quickly on the black ice. We humans wouldn't be as capable. Many times I've been laid out on my ass due to black ice when I've been wearing workboots.

That is amazing. The fact that the closest it got to hitting the ground was taking a knee ONCE on that ice is astounding. They did some good work, soon the military or rescuers get to put it to good use.

Yeah, at times (when it's kicked, the black ice) it almost seems like a living thing. Those are the same reactions I'd have. It's a little freaky.
