Uncle_Max 03-17-08, 07:41 AM I just noticed that we're one member away from having 2,000 members.

So first, welcome to member #1,999: aloysius.
Also, last night at 9:02PM (Eastern North America time) we had the highest ever users at once, with 799. Which I think is pretty ridiculous, so I had to mention it. Now if only all of those members would sign the hell up and contribute. *cough*hint*cough
Unless you're a huge statistics nerd like me, I probably just wasted a minute of your life. Too late to get it back.
Stats.. hell yeah.. where the feck are these 1.999 people.. Think a cull is called for.. unless the stats make a difference.. (innercent of all daft thoughts me.. )
some folk are a waste of bandwidth..
am I being lurkist...
eeeek...
lurkers of the net.. say feck All..
least they're not gobshite trolls.. (best I could come up with in their defence....them being the SILENT counted... )
njohnson747 03-17-08, 10:33 AM Great thread topic man. Excellent catch Max!
It's my understanding that The Boss does indeed cull the herd once in a while. "Ye know not the day nor the hour..."
As for the lurkers, well, I actually paid dues to a content board for years before I made my first post. I suppose that made me a dues-paying lurker. I was afraid that (ATTENTION NON-CONTRIBUTING MEMBERS AND ESPECIALLY GUESTS) that I would get shot down if I posted something - that it was an online club and I would not be welcome.
Then one day in 2005 it was time: I finally spoke with my own online voice for the first time. I had a PC problem and after three years of silence I posted something. Very short, small typeface but an earnest request, not spam. I got plenty of responses, all positive.
To those of you reading this thread right now who are just visiting we'd love to have you join up and kick in some content. Put a toe in the water and post something you find interesting. What do you have to lose?
I have found membership here to be of enormous benefit. I feel a sense of camraderie and NOT a club mentality. Take heed in what Uncle_Max is saying - take a chance and join the team!
th3n00b 03-17-08, 06:39 PM How many bots is Han using? :P 1500 of those are my fake accounts.
Cool ! but 26 members & 302 "guests" !!
And it's the same thing everyday, everyday, everyday......!

I see what Che is saying. It seems that a few are carrying the site for the rest. And, I myself was like NJohnson, in the fact that I wanted to hear what the others are saying. Then I slowly began to post. I have just started to get the hang of it. I still can not post videos or pictures like I would like to but will learn eventually. 302 "guests" is a sizeable some. Please tell me they don't get into the vault without subscribing, do they? The ratio is way too low. How do you improve it? Make them subscribe, give them what they are looking for. Otherwise , they are just soaking up bandwidth for the paying customers,IMHO. Join us, all you guests reading this thread. It is a great place to be. It is a place where people from all walks of life can be themselves without being bullied. I sat by the computer and just wondered what to post. Put something that means something to you. Post about life happening. Life happens to all of us. There are many possibilities, but only one outcome.
th3n00b 03-18-08, 04:50 AM Okay, here's how this works. The front page is basically window dressing to get poor saps to pay for our member services.
Jantheman 03-18-08, 05:07 AM Gee, N00b, that puts us in the same catagory as pushers or drug reps. Give them a taste and then they're hooked. Now if we could only do a better job of hooking them....
MostlyHarmless 03-18-08, 06:36 PM Well the non-paying non-subscribed people do NOT get into the vault. It's possible to get vault access without paying the cash monies (I did it)... But you have to contribute SOMETHING.. Like maybe be a productive member and comment a lot or make tons of new posts. Since I became a member, though I've run into a little bit o' cash and so I bought the VIP server for a year and shoveled $60 into the till on the side as well. The main point is that you have to contribute something, even if you have no money (like I didn't have cash for a long time)...
Jantheman 03-19-08, 12:02 AM Well said, MH. Sorry if I sounded too negative in my previous post. It just bugs me that there are so many "users" or leechers out there. I will say it again. Join us, please.
