It is that wonderful time of the year again noobsters. I am setting up a bracket again this year. We had a couple of participants last year. NJohnson, CJ, Aubiefan and myself. Aubiefan beat us unmercifully last year. I would like to have more play this year. IF you are interested, send me a pm with your email and I will send you an invitation to our private group.

Hope to see you joining.

Moonman

To clear up any confusion, this is for the NCAA Basketball Tournament!!! You do not have to live in the US to play. But you should know something about college basketball to have a chance.

Moonman I was hoisting a pint of beer three days ago and I thought holy crap! NCAA tourney time! Moonman is going to bust out the bracketology again! I'm glad to see this thread.

I'll send you a PM. And hey - to all those of you who enjoy friendly competition you don't have to know a lot about the teams to pick the winners. It's for bragging rights. Most of us don't follow all of NCAA hoops during the regular season anyway - and that's part of the fun. You’ve gotta do your research and then make your guesses, your Cinderella picks, your early outs and all that.

How many f*cking times have I seen the human resources secretary win the damned NCAA pool at the office, huh? She just picks the teams that have tougher mascots than the other - in her opinion. It's like rock, paper scissors. And she walks home with $200+ bucks and a big grin on her face three years in a row!

C'mon, join in the fun! Send a PM to Moonman and he'll give you the directions so you can make your picks. Then our stats will get posted in our group as the tourney goes along. Aubiefan whupped the crap out of us like Moonman said and it was fun. I actually got involved in watching the tournament because I wanted bragging rights. So join up mofos so I can use my secret system of picking winners out of near ignorance and ESPN blindness like the secretary. I shall implement my own bracketology - a dash of Mr. Spock, a hint of Dick Vitale and a ....wait a minute, I'm not giving you bitches the secret formula! This year I shall triumph for the first time!

Or be totally humiliated for the 15th time.

As of right now it's me vs. Moonman and whoever has the balls the size of basketballs to jump in the Noobsters NCAA Pool. C'mon, we need more people in this thing! My inevitable domination of this Noobsters competition must be lorded over all.

Hurry up. You've all got until Thursday to send a PM to Moonman and he's not going to be up all night waiting for you. If you don't act fast you won't get the password and so you can make your picks on ESPN.com. What are you waiting for?

Especially if you play in the Noobsters Casino then you've gotta give this a shot. As you can see from the screenie pic below Moonman and I already have our brackets locked in for the Big Dance tip-off in 48 hours. Hell yeah!

I'll even wager points, yes points against anyone else who joins the fray as of right now. Name your price and I'll match it. Otherwise it's me vs. Moonman, mano-a-mano and I will be sure to remind you mofos how much fun you are missing out on for the next two weeks.

Got balls? Then play ball!

5,000 noobsters points on the line from each of us. Get off your arse and get with the program. The group is noobsters and the pass is noobsters.com. So that you all know, I am pimping the forum while kicking NJohnsons ass. If your scared, say your scared....

Where is noob, his tubby ass should be in on this.

OK we are down to the Sweet Sixteen and the race is tight. Moonman kicked my ass in Round #1 but we pulled the same score in Round #2. That means I am running a close second. With 5,000 Noobster points on the line it's all about UCLA keeping it real for me and whupping ass.

I made a bunch of upset picks in the first round and got creamed. Moonman made a couple of key picks that were daring and totally won the day for him. He picked #10 seeded Davidson to beat the vaunted #2 seed Georgetown Hoyas and it worked! Davidson upset Georgetown! WTF how did he have that figured out? Hell, if that game would have gone the other way we would be in a dead heat right now.

I picked my boys at next door Michigan State to go deeper than expected and they did. That saved me. Now the NCAA Tournament points race really gets cracking. I have 380 points in the tournament pool and Moonman has 420. This thing is far from settled. But if I am wrong about UCLA this year, well, cancel Christmas.

My current national ranking in the ESPN Tournament is (get this) #2,434,692 place. Moonman is ranked much higher nationally but since all you non-hoops fans out there didn't join in the fracas I am only in second place in the Noobsters contest. Watch the news y'all: UCLA is going all the way this year!:icon_biggrinn:

The NCAA Sweet Sixteen is done and the NCAAA Tournament moves on to the Elite Eight in less than 48 hours. But here are some numbers that have my attention tonight: the score between Moonman and myself has become identical despite the staggering odds against such an occurance so late in the tournament. We are now tied - right down to 1/10th of 1% - in the race to win the 5,000 Noobster points and bragging rights for the year.

Anybody good at statistics? What are the odds of this?

Unreal. Out of millions, yes millions of ESPN bracket submissions both Moonman and I have the exact same international ranking at this critical moment in the race. The odds against this are astronomical, sure. But it's true. And the race is not only too close to call now it's impossible to call. There is everything to play for.

This recent statistical feat alone makes the competition noteworthy. Not to mention that PLAYING IN THE Noobsters NCAA TOURNAMENT POOL IS FUN! Wish more of you mofos were playing!

See screenshot below. What are the odds?!

Yeah Wiggles man I hear ya 100% on this one. The Michigan State Spartans went down in flames big time last night. Damn. The NCAA Tournament broke this MSU college town's heart again this year.

I'm sure my Lansing State Journal will arrive on my doorstep in two hours with this shameless blowout spread all over the front page. People will be second-guessing the hell out of this one. And Drew Nietzel, well, he sure had one great collegiate basketball career. The little white boy with the shaved head who could shoot the lights out. Too bad he didn't leave his college career having played in the 2008 NCAA Final Four.

They play clips from "300" at the footbal games and the crowd of 70,000 fans goes berserk. The best one is this scene: "Spartans! What is our profession!" and then the war cry goes up from the screen and around the stadium. Badass.

And BTW for a change I was NOT drink during the b-ball game last night! But I did pass out.

Fuck, I totally forgot about the bracket competition this year! Been busier than all hell lately, never even got to watch a game until last night.

On the up side, Texas made it so far, on the down side... FUCK YOU NC! Knocking out the Cougars in the 2nd round.

Well the NCAA Tournament has concluded with a resounding Kansas victory. And I enjoyed it all the more thanks to Moonman's setting up this Noobsters NCAA Pool. Thanks you as always Moonman!:notworthy:

I hope more of you join in next time - its great fun. CJ, I wish you could have joined in the fray and given your hand a rest on the remote control and helped that case of wankers cramp - I suffer from that medical condition as well ;) I'm sure with your hatred of North Carolina you would have had a good shot at beating us both out.

As it happens I won the tournament pool (gimmie my muthafunkin 5,000 points Moonman my man!:smiliewinner:) but neither Moonman or myself had either of the title game teams picked so our final round we each scored a zero. I inched ahead in the race after Moonman blew me out in Round #1 and then it seesawed back and forth - tons of fun to check my brackets on the ESPN site after the game to see who got what.

As for the big news story - "Cinderella Story" of a team coming out of nowhere it was Davidson of all places. Davidson! That left me in fits and my girlfriend got to hear all about it. "Moonman that bastard how did he pick Davidson over Georgetown! Nobody picked Davidson over Georgetown! That's a #10 seed beating a #2 seed. What did he do - watch their game tapes? It's like competing against Ace Rothstein from "Casino" and shit!"

But he did it and my compliments to him for correctly picking the upset team of the year. I would feel a bit more boastful about my victory if I had been the one that correctly picked Davidson. Oh well - there's always next year for a run at total domination!

Moonman thanks for setting up the Noobsters NCAA Tournament once again. You’re a class act and I enjoyed the battle. See you on the brackets in one year's time!

Sounds like a lot of fun, but like I mentioned b4, I know nothing about college sports. I just never got into it. If you set up a fantasy football (nfl) this year, I'd like a chunk of that, though. Even though I'll prolly end up owing you guys points :P

Yeah, NJ, I got in for last year's picks, but with moving and a kid and all that fun stuff, I totally forgot about this years bracket picks.

Anyone in for NHL playoff picks?

I would agree with MoHarm, if there is an NFL thing of this, I would probably play. The Colts will be in their new stadium that my tax dollars help build, I would like to get some of that back. That would be cool. For that matter, we could do a NASCAR thing next season, since Toyota is now in the fray. Ford, Chevrolet and Dodge are taking notice. Though, IMHO, nothing is going to change until they change tire suppliers. Firestone/Bridgestone, Michelin or Hoosier should be included with Goodyear.

Feel free to set up any fantasy league you like. I love this shit. I use espn because it is easy and free. It is super easy to set up. If you are interested in a certain sport and need help, let me know and I will do what I can. I would like to play in any sport...

If we're starting an NFL pool for this year, I'm in. I'm used to using the Yahoo ones, but I'm sure I can adjust to ESPN if that's the one of choice.
