Cyclist stabbed to death in row

A female cyclist has been stabbed to death in the Anfield area of Liverpool in a "vicious and brutal" attack.

Police said she was riding a bicycle on Whitfield Road on Friday night when a car pulled up alongside her and an argument broke out with its occupants.

Witnesses reported that she rode off but the car followed and on Woodville Terrace two women got out, pulled her from her bike, and she was stabbed.

Merseyside Police are trying to find out the victim's identity.

She is aged between 16 and 20, about 5ft 6in tall, and had dark brown, shoulder-length hair which she was wearing in a single plait.

Garland tattoo

She was wearing a black Location brand tracksuit and a zipped jacket, a black t-shirt and red, black and silver Nike trainers.

Her cycle was a black and light pink Universal Fusion mountain bike with a black seat.

The woman had "Atalia" tattooed on her right hip, and the name "Demi Lee" tattooed on her right foot with a rose entwined with the letters.

She also had a tattoo of a garland of flowers circling her navel.

Witness appeal

Det Ch Insp Richie Davies, of Merseyside Police, said: "This was a vicious and brutal attack on a young woman and I would appeal to anybody who has any information which could help us with our inquiries to contact us urgently.

"I am also anxious to trace anyone who may recognise the victim from the description we have released.

"It may be that you have not seen your partner, daughter, sister or friend since yesterday and if you believe she fits the description we have released I would urge you to contact us."

Officers are carrying out house-to-house inquiries and the area around the attack has been cordoned off.

Police believe the women who attacked the victim were passengers in the car, which was being driven by a man.

Det Insp Davies added: "We are following up a number of positive lines of inquiry, but again I would like to reiterate that if anyone out there has any information which could help us with our inquiries they should contact police as soon as possible.

Was a time arguments were solved with fists,
Now it's knives, that's why I always carry an edged friend,
I never used to carry a blade, but these days...
No fucker is going to get the drop on Pooka...

Amen. I have at least one knife on me constantly, and as soon as I can get my CCW, I'll be carrying at the very least a pistol in my boot, on a shoulder holster, and probably one more on my belt.

Not if you know how to use it and aren't a complete tool.

An old guy I work with said to me, "Do you know why you file down the sight on the gun barrel? So it doesn't hurt as bad when they shove it up your ass". OUCH, I do have a knife, but never a gun. I am not afraid of guns, my Dad has always had one by his bedside since I can remember. If he ever shot anybody, he would miss since his vision is very poor. Hopefully the shooting of his weapon would be enough to stop a would be burglar.

Mark my words. In (probably less than)20 years when we have martial law and a police state, you'll wish you had a gun. It's going to be a country of militants and sheeple. I might be off on this, but I'm about 85% sure that's where we're headed (in America, anyway)... There has been so much abuse of power after 9/11 that ML and PS seem to be inevitable.

As a song by KMFDM goes... See that gun, pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck; See that gun, let it lie, you'll want that gun before you die.

Honestly? One less cyclist to worry about. There's really no downside here.

I have heard the same rumor for the past thirty to thirty-five years. Some of those guys had all the guns, knives and God knows what else years ago. Abuse of power? Where? Control is what they seem to be doing now. Like at the airports when they screen passengers. That could be abuse. I don't want to be a sheeple either. I just want to be a law abiding citizen with nobody knocking down my door for any reason. MH, I hope you are wrong on this one.

I suppose it's possible that the abuse of power has been around for a long time, but we just have more media coverage about it now. I don't want to be right either, but it's a growing sentiment among people that that's where we're headed.
Example A:
YouTube - Shreveport Woman Beat By Cop While In Custody (http://www.noobsters.com/forum/redirector.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2F watch%3Fv%3DhxgNKNEtk18)

Edit to add: Yeah she was a bitch and all, but turning off the camera to kick her ass was a stupid idea, kinda incriminating even if it's true that she only fell flat on her own drunk face.

Amen, MH. If it does come to this, I guess I will buy some weapons, too. Gee, the last time I shot anything I was still in high school.

By the time you need a weapon, it'll be too late to buy one.

The woman sounds like she was not only overpowered but surprised by her assailants and would most likely not have had a chance to defend herself with any defensive whatnot she was carrying.

We worry about what we're going to do if someone rolls up on us all the time. It brings up a lot of bad, angry memories for anyone who has suddenly found themselves at the mercy of others and was lucky enough to get out of all of those situations relatively intact.

Fear is a sword that cuts both ways. Even when harnessed it’s very destructive stuff.

What a heavy burden to carry around that behavior many call "paranoia" if life circumstances have taught that person to be ready for total chaos to break out at any moment. It makes them ache for the fighting to start just to end the wait. It makes any insult - real or imagined - a call to arms that will in most cases be totally inappropriate for the situation. It makes your home a fortress and nobody, nobody steps on the porch without a reason and no one steps through the door without a badge, if then. In public it makes any threat to your person - not matter how slight - an invitation to let the savagery off the leash, finally.

To the guy in the room with the knife on his belt or a gun in his truck: you say “hell yeah” you are ready to use it if necessary. But remember the person in the room that is the most dangerous is the guy without the knife, without the gun. He doesn’t know karate or kung-fu, nothing like that. He doesn’t talk loudly – in fact he doesn’t talk at all. He doesn’t threaten people but he does scare them. The loudmouth at the bar –well, watch him shut the fuck up when he addresses this guy and gets his answer back. He gets no look, he gets no answer. See, this dude has a problem. He’s been afraid of people for so long he’s not afraid anymore. He’s not worried about being mugged, robbed, jumped, beat-down, killed, whatever. He’s just minding his own business and waiting for the moment, the day, the hour and the minute when his façade of sociability can fall away and he can finally relax and express himself freely.

This type of person is liberated (if only for a moment) by instilling fear in those who enter his bubble of privacy (especially when in public). A silent, subtle, motionless menace.

No one intimidates this guy because no one is willing to lose what he has to lose. Others have shown him how cheap life can be. And that, my friends, is a man who scares even his closest friends. That’s pretty sad when a person’s best friends are at times afraid of him. That's not cool.

You have to be willing to lose your life if you want to bet with it. Hopefully you won’t get into a fight for your life like that woman did that night. And in the meanwhile it’s my hope that you aren’t so ready to fight that you fight your own sense of human decency in your quest to be the quickest to pull the trigger or pull your knife. Don’t be too quick to pull the trigger on your own sense of humanity. That’s a fearful waste of good time, a lifetime. That’s a tragedy.

Damn straight nj ... i dont bother carrying a weapon anymore cause i know there are peeps out there who could get it off me ... same as i know that if someone needs to carry said weapon against me , i have faith in my own ability to disarm them . That said , no-one is immune to a blindside random act
