Airborne Lawsuit: Maker Settles For $23.3M, Refund Details
by Mitch Marconi

The makers of the herbal supplement Airborne must pay $23.3 million to settle a class-action lawsuit. The suite was brought against Airborne for false advertising, according to reports.

The Center for Science in the Public Interest, a non-profit advocacy group, said the company will refund money to those consumers who bought the Airbornes product.

The company will also pay for advertisements in major publications that will instruct consumers on how to receive their money refunded, according to the AP.

According to the company Web site, Airborne was created by second-grade teacher Victoria Knight-McDowell who "studied the benefits herbal therapies used in Eastern Medicine."

The site says Airborne "boosts the immune system with seven herbal extracts and a proprietary blend of vitamins, electrolytes, amino acids and antioxidants."

Early on, Airborne claimed it was able fight off colds. Airborne changed their advertising campaign when a plaintiff sued the company in March 2006. Note: Sounds like it saw it coming.:mad-pound:
