Ripping a DVD

So was ripping a coupla DVD's with DVDXcopy (DVDXPLATINUM) yesterday....it rips great...but takes a fooking long time (almost 1.5 hours for a DVD). :boohoo

DVD shrinker on the otherhand ...gives me poor quality...;2guns

So am looking for a good DVD ripper !!!! (btw I use slysoft AnyDVD to remove protection ....used to use DVD 43).

clarifying for the Mohoe !! :- Looking for a DVD ripper/shrinker that will rip/steal the cotents of a standard Movie DVD and then make DVD movies (from blank 4.7 GB discs) and work better than the above mentioned S/f

u look for a dvd shinker from dvd9 format to ur normal dvds? or u looking to put films from avi files to dvd?

I normally just check those guys out when i wanna do something "weird"

DVD43 3.7.0 - an on-the-fly decryption layer for Windows
DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 - the most versatile ripper out there
SmartRipper 2.41 - another DVD Ripper, offers many neat options that no other ripper has
vStrip 0.8f_css - my favorite, hard to learn but guaranteed results


Suweet Foamy...I checked.....have used only 2 of the above ...will give the others a try too....

they should be info for your out of sync audio problem also. but you aint gonna like the soloution much....... when i last had this problem i gave in becasue the solution was basiclallly Even more Fucking about..so i thought Feck it!

have had no audio sync probs while ripping with DVDXplatinum (its a suweet s/f ..but time consuming)....so never worried about it.....will check it out....

One of my friends gave me his entire DVD collection for a week......and there are many movies there that I don't have...hence I need something to do it faster..

i tried dvd shrink and the out come wont play on any dvd player, whats up with that. also is dvd x copy still out there? i thought it died help a brother out here

yeah but who knows where that avi file came from. i mean it could of came from the caves of afghanastan and would never work. i dunno blockbuster is my friend alonge with dvd x copy express.......... err i mean paying full price for the real thing cough.

Satman, I've been using DVD-Shrink to rip and shrink my movies for a couple of years now and have not noticed a loss of quality (or at least a noticeable one) and when DVD-Shrink has not worked I use Img Burn or DVD Decrypter and change those to rip format and it works. As far as burning goes, I've been using Decrypter to burn the DVDs for 2 years as well until recently, when I switched to Img Burn and they usually take about 5-6 minutes burning at 12x setting. I don't really understand how it is taking you that long...maybe your settings are askew.

anyways....only do DVDs' to DVDs' right now using DVDFAB.......its fast and satisfies my quality requirements.......

i know you probably don't want to hear this.....

use linux

my comp is:
athlonxp 2400
1.25 gb pc2100 RAM
hp dvdwriter dvd630 with original firmware

software is:

vobcopy to rip/steal/borrow
k9copy to shrink, it will also rip but has poor quality

'vobcopy -m' will mirror most dvds in 20 minutes or less
k9copy will shrink the dvd folder down to 4.3 gb in about 25 minutes.
add another 8 minutes to burn using the commandline

looks like less than an hour.

this is not with a livecd but a real install. currently it's Zenwalk 2.2 poorly upgraded to 3.0.

occassionaly i find a dvd that this won't rip/mirror/burn and i have to boot into windows. and then it takes 1 to 1.5 hrs to do this. too fucking long if you ask me.

Use Dr DIVX !!!! high quality
