Calling all Noobster gamers: November 2007 promises to be the peak of PC game titles releases since the banner year of 2005. First Person Shooters lead the pack for the Christmas season release rush - and how!

Many of the latest FPS games now are using the new "Unreal" graphics engine that is at the core of the (very) long awaited Unreal Tournament 3. Finally - the much hyped next installment of that mega-franchise is being released for the PC early next month according to developers Midway. As of 7 hours ago the news hit that it will NOT be released for the PS3 on the same date as promised (so it looks like PC gamers will be the first to get in on the action). Hooray for the PC as a gaming platform!

The next highly-hyped and much anticipated FPS title being released for the PC this November is Crysis. Besides your standard awesome graphics promises comes this bit of news about the AI in Crysis: "The artificial intelligence (AI) in Crysis also aims to be realistic and believable. Enemy soldiers constantly employ tactical maneuvers, work as squads, hide and ambush amongst the scenery, and adapt to changing environments and conditions. AI soldiers will also respond to sound and subtle movements triggered by the player's movement.[21] While not engaged in combat, the AI soldiers will also exhibit typical and lifelike behavior, such as smoking, yawning, talking, urinating, waxing cars, patrolling, saluting superior officers, etc." Sez Wikepedia, anyway.

OK and then finally we've got Call of Duty 4. Yes - they skipped from Call of Duty 2 straight to Call of Duty 4 for the PC. Pre-release purchases for that much-touted title are already on local store shelves in the PC gaming section of Best Buy here in Michigan. November 5th 2007 is the scheduled release date and it looks like everything is on track. The frame rate for this PC title is supposed to be award winning according to the guys at Gamespot.com. But that's not the big news. This time Call of Duty will be set in the modern age. That's right - trade your BAR heavy machine gun in for a modern-day SAW and you're ready to rock and roll. I can't wait.

There is a lot of literature about all three of these upcoming releases online. It promises to be a great holiday season. Game on!

UT3 looks pretty... Pretty as in it'll make my computer come to a screaming halt if I play it at higher than 320x200 res.

Harmless man I read on Gamespot that Unreal Tournament 3 ran superbly with all graphics at maximum on a Dell PC with 2.4gGhz processor and 2Gb RAM. Now I don't have that processor in my Dell (because I didn't have the loot on hand to buy the 2.4 with the 4mb cache) but I know that I have been playing next-gen graphics games with high framerates like Medal of Honor Airborne and even Rainbow Six Vegas with significantly reduced graphics and they still look good.

You may not have the specs that I do per se but hey - if you've got at least a 128mb video card and at least a 512 processor then you can run these games. Granted they won't rock your socks off like they would on the XBox 360 (which is where most of the screenshots online come from) but remember - at least you are playing it....for a very reduced price I'm sure!

Never got into the Unreal Tournament games, prefered Counterstrike, but UT3 does look pretty sweet.
