pvtpile 09-06-07, 04:26 AM Well what kind of week would it be without some kind of SNAFU in the Pile household.
Pile Jr fell down at school and broke his arm this afternoon. Very traumatizing event let me tell you! Lots of attempts to calm lots of "Hey I know it hurts but crying and wailing about it is not helping" and lots of other compassionate phrases from me ;)

ZeroAccuracy 09-06-07, 05:08 AM The best way to get those to heal right is to randomly grab him by the elbow and shake his hand up and down. That will ensure that the bones are nice and flexible for next time he falls.
MostlyHarmless 09-06-07, 05:12 AM Heyyyyy.... after he feels better you can take his leftover Vicoden :) j/k, they'll just give him extra strength tylenol probably.

Also that sucks and I hope he feels better :D
aint they meant to "bounce" at that age?? wtf you feeding him? Cement?
Anyway, nasty one! Did similar myself as a kid and at that age pain management is not an option, it hurts, parents make it stooooop
pvtpile 09-08-07, 01:34 AM Ok well getting the cast turned into an all day affair. Turned out they never did the referral for the insurance. SO we had to run around and do that. Then the ER never called us on follow up to tell us not to let him eat anything this morning because he probably would need to go to the Operating Room to get it fixed.
They had to manipulate the bone attached to his elbow. So what we thought was going to be a morning in and out to the doctors turned out to be a 10 hour trip to the hospital with me and the mrs in the OR waiting room where the had the most insidious placement of a clock I have ever seen....
All in all cast is on, arm elevated and remote in hand. Time for me to fall asleep on the couch next to him.

Too bad there isn't a way for us all to sign jr's cast. Then again.... with this group of people, maybe it's a good thing.....
mAVERICK1 09-08-07, 05:45 AM compassionate my ass....
Doh....
Ouch, that's a pretty decent break. Must've hurt alright.
Once your son gets over the initial pain post op, he'll be able to claim bragging rights at school with the cast ;-P

Hopefully he puked at the hospital and they had to clean it up. But knowing how it works i'm sure he did it at home....How many days until the cast isn't cool anymore and he starts whining.:moon::icon_chainsaw:
pvtpile 09-10-07, 10:39 PM Still cool so far...

th3n00b 09-10-07, 10:54 PM OMG!!!! what happened to his other arm!!!!!
FauxReal 09-11-07, 12:17 AM Youch! Looks like it shifted between x-rays? So, can you verify this "it happened at school" claim? I don't wanna have to call CPS!
MostlyHarmless 09-11-07, 01:18 AM Hell. He's young enough to be laughing about it as soon as the cast comes off and he gets his muscle back. A kid that age could leap off the empire state building and get a scraped knee, cry for 5 minutes and then go show all the other kids his cool "spider-man band-aid". (Broke my collarbone at 12yo; I still brag about it... although the story seems to have changed over time to make me sound less stupid and more cool)
