50 Cent promises to quit if Kanye outsells him
Rapper riled by forecasts that West’s new album could outpace his own

NEW YORK - 50 Cent believes his new album will outsell Kanye West’s upcoming disc, and he’s betting his solo career on it.

Both 50 Cent and West have albums due out Sept. 11. 50 Cent, who has sold better than West, has been riled by forecasts that sales of West’s “Graduation” could rival those for his “Curtis” CD.

“Let’s raise the stakes,” the 31-year-old rapper told hip-hop Web site SOHH.com in an interview posted Friday. “If Kanye West sells more records than 50 Cent on September 11, I’ll no longer write music. I’ll write music and work with my other artists, but I won’t put out anymore solo albums.”

An e-mail sent to West’s publicist wasn’t immediately returned Friday.

50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson, has been publicly disparaging of West before. In 2005, he suggested the 29-year-old rapper’s popularity was only possible because of 50’s own success.

But they recently collaborated in the studio. Their work, though, isn’t scheduled to appear on either new album.

50 Cent’s last full-length solo album, “The Massacre,” was the best-selling disc of 2005 and sold more than 1.14 million copies in its first week of release. The same year, West’s “Late Registration” opened by selling more than 860,000 copies in its first week.

Either way, Kanye or 50, it still sucks... at least it'd be one less. If he'd promise to kill himself I might even be tempted to buy a Kanye disc or two...

Yeah, I guess if I get it from RapidShare it doesn't count toward the career-kill tally.

Like that? It's Fiddy Cent's mugshot from The Smoking Gun - back when he was a lesser known genocidal-provoking piece of shit.

Too bad about that download count thing. I don't think this music sales election to mercifully end these loudmouthed gangsta's careers is fair and accurate without the vote of The Silent Majority being counted. You know what consumer constituency I'm talking about - the people who download the albums so they don't have to pay jack shit can hear the shit they would have otherwise missed at $17 dollars a pop.

BTW the hyper-inflated ego of Kanye West is a source of much media laughter ever since his first album went big. He called into quesiton the so-called validity of the European MTV Music Awards becuase - despite Kanye's insistance that he should win becuase Pamela Anderson played his girlfriend in the video - he lost the award. And of course there is his imfamous rant on all major US television staitons during a celebrity benefit for Hurricane Katrina victims in 2005 when he declared that the President of the United States - and all the white people who elected him - did not care about the stricken black population trapped in New Orleans. So if he hates white people so much why did he have Pamela Anderson as his girlfriend in the video, eh?

As for Fiddy Cent he hasn't come clean about his role in the brutal, unsolved murder of true the hip-hop artists penultimate DJ - RunDMC's Jam Master Jay. Keep your showoff Kevlar Vest on, Fiddy. You are walking the same death trail as Tupac Shakur - but with even less talent.

Rap shit just don't cut it. Talk about all music sounding the same, think about "FUCK THE POLICE" over and over again. It sounds like a rant more than a song. Could be a chant of some sort.

Fuck the Police WAS a rant! That's why it was so popular, it was a rant that a lot of other people could relate to. If you think all rap sounds the same, then you haven't listened to all rap.

Yes most of commercial hiphop has turned into a minstrel show. But there's some good shit in there. Either way, a lot more people disagree w/ you than agree... the total lameness of the mainstream is testament to that. If it wasn't so profitable they wouldn't be churning out so much crap. Hell hiphop has ruled the music industry for a while now... it's influencing every genre of music. Look at Trace Adkins. Now, let me just say, I think the majority of new popular music is pure shit in just about every genre. There's some good stuff in all of them as well. I can recommend some good rap if anyone is interested BTW.

I just think people who diss whole genre's are crazy.

P.S. I think 50 sucks... did you know he owns half of vitamin water? You might wanna stop drinking it if you don't want to support him.

^^My thoughts exactly. There's rap and then there's good rap. Anyone who thinks 50 and Kanye are the sheeeeite, has never listened to Masta Ace or A Tribe Called Quest. Anyone who hates rap has never listned to The Roots or Blackalicious.

All Genre's have their redeeming qualities. It's just taking the time to look that's the trouble. Sure I like rap, NWA and Public Enemy got me whipped quite frequently when I was kid, but I'm also huge into Jazz, punk, opera, and "the scene."

Music is music. All forms of it will have something you can appreciate.

^^ Nooby hit it on the head. There is good rap music. NWA, old Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, Eazy E, Farside, and a massive list that could go on for miles, of great artists who were left at the side of the road because they believed in the soul of the music, or jumped onto the commercial bandwagon to chase that big money.

And, I'm surprised nobody has put the thought together that, in the event that "fiddy" retires from the stage, that gives him more time to work on churning out more media-hyped regurgitating dipshit buddies of his mumbling incoherent vocals to poor loop tracks.

As Nas said, hip-hop is dead.

Queensbridge, we got to have unity.

Trouble is, they're all uniting under huge record labels that force them to gurgle out filth.

Rap music today just isn't the same as from the 80's to mid 90's. It's too damn commercial these days. Stupid concepts, all you hear is these idiots talking about how much money and ice they got, bitches and ho's. The creativity sure has gone down hill.........
