All right all you noobs, I need some help. I have been having some issues with my computer in the last couple of weeks. I will be working on something (seems to be at random times) and the screen with either go black or change to an odd color. I do not have any viruses that Zone Alarm can find, nor do I have any spyware or adware that I can tell. I have done multiple scans. When the screen goes screwey on me, I have to manually turn off the unit. When I power it on again, it has to check on of my disc for consistency. It then boots and is fine for a few more days. BTW, this is a laptop.
Any ideas what could be wrong? Any suggestions as to what I can do to fix it?
Thanks in advance.

Check for overheating, air vent blockage. Then check driver issues, re-install and see if its still doing it.
is the base/ lower part of ur lappy screen hot when that happened ?
check that out.....
in that case its getting overheated

Yeah, check the connection from the laptop base to the screen. May have come loose or something. You can also look at your events and see if there are any glaring error codes that jump out at you. If it's a driver problem, it will show up there usually.
I have a ATI in my lappy, solution...

I would check the video card for overheating? Age and specs would be nice also

Okay, the machine is a Toshiba Satellite and it is about 1.5 years old. I use a usb powered chill pad under it to prevent overheating. I looked at the error codes and did not see any thing screwey. I am about to start the fun process of a reload. I hate Winblows. I want to go postal on Gates atm...Fooking Bastage.

If it's acting real funny send it to the Comedy Club and make some money on it.
Sounds like a monitor issue. Borrow a monitor and see if it happens again.
