I have never started a fire with a condom before but I have had the smell of burning plastic in my bedroom on a few occasions.

And wouldn't it be just as easy using the water bottle? And saving the condom for something better later in the evening near the fire?

I've lit a few fires with coke cans and such (any parabolic arc), but I must say I never tried a condom....
