Snapper (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2703/)

by Joe Miller (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/24386/author/)

People often take screenshots of web pages for miscellaneous reasons - when designing a page, debugging a web application, or even for graphical reference. Usually, though, only a portion of the screenshot is actually relevant to the user's purpose, leading to a large portion of the image getting cropped. This can be time consuming, and annoying at times.

Snapper allows users to designate an area of a web page for a focused snapshot, cutting out the additional work needed for cropping unecessary information.

Works with:

I was reminded tonight though, as I upgraded to Firefox 2.0.0.2 (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/2.0.0.2/releasenotes/) , that Snapper still hasn't been updated and is only compatible up to Firefox 1.5. So, since I hacked* the extension to work with Firefox 2.*, I thought I would share it for anyone else wanting to use it.

Download Snapper for Firefox 2.0+ (http://www.fortysomething.ca/mt/etc/entry_images/snapper-1.3-fx.xpi) then install from within Firefox by selecting File menu > Open File and selecting the snapper xpi file you downloaded.

* I just upped the max version to 3.0. Tested and working fine in Firefox 2.0.0.2
