Oh, dammit I hope not. I just re-upped for another month on RapidShare.com as of 15 minutes ago...after it told me that I had downloaded 20Gb over the last five days. It said "Try again tonight".

Funny thing though - it did not give me any more of a Gb allowance after I had re-upped my account for another month. I used RapidShare.com last night and it worked fine. I hope to hell I didn't just get ripped off for a month's worth of membership cash! I should have checked on Noobsters first and seen this post - then waited until tonight to see if I got any more of a Gb allowance at 6:00pm EST with my previous RapidShare.com membership status.

And something else: I have been using "RapidShare.de" with no problems thus far as of 30 minutes ago. I would think that if RapidShare.com went down then RapidShare.de would go down too. But maybe not. Both are said to be run by separate companies.

Whenever the big RapidShare ride ends it will not doubt come without warning (as do so many things that end on the 'net). But it's been one hell of a ride nonetheless - whenever that day comes.

Hopefully that day is not today. I've got more RapidSharing to do!

All RS links seem to work fine for me. But really, who couldnt see this coming... the more popular the service gets, the bigger the target is so its really only a matter of time before its taken down so enjoy it while it lasts.

I have 9 months before my account expires.
Crackheads bettrer not be taken down by the evil RIAA, or anyone else for that matter, esp Pooka!!!!

If it does go down... I say we unleash the "fuzzy-gerbal-like-planet-killer"

Since the day I read that RapidShare had an injunction laid on them I have been downloading stuff as fast as I can. Yet I am surprised that the service is still up and running more than one week after news of the injunction was publically announced.

I know this much: RapidShare is still taking payments for membership! They took mine two hours ago. They haven't been shut down yet. I have no idea how they are still up and running after that court decision but they are as of this post's time. They must have some badass lawyers or they are stalling to get every last penny out of their cash cow. The second of the two scenarios is the most likely.

Can you really imagine RapidShare posting a notice on their sites saying the jig is up - the game is over? Like this for instance...

"Sorry - we are shutting down and we don't know if we will ever be back up again in our current form. We will give you back your membership fee money adjusted for any service time purchased beyond today's date. We might be back online again in our present form but most likely our name will be sold like a peice of meat. The RapidShare name and service will be bastardized like Napster's has been. We are popular and therefore our name has become a brand. So say hello to the new RapidShare coming soon (in an RIAA approved package for your downloading displeasure)."

Damn, I almost signed up for a 12 mth account last week. Gonna hold out for a while and see what develops or sign up for a/c on a mthly basis.

One of the bonus' of being on Noobsters. Ya get a heads-up as soon as anything major happens on the net. It's generally on here within hrs! (or minutes for that matter)
