Linux distros

Seeing the screenies posted by Chesty and talking to Moonman today, I'm getting that urge to jump into Linux again. What I'd like to know is what distros all you linux peeps are using and what are the pros and cons to it?

I'm relatively new to linux (I have ubuntu on a workshop computer of mine, but I messed with it a couple weeks and never touched it again).

Prolly doesn't matter much about my system specs, but I'll post them in case there are issues with some hardware compatibility...

AMD64 3800+
2gb ram
RAID 0 150gb
WD 250 gb
SLI enabled twin 6800gts
Asus A8N SLI-Deluxe mobo

What I'm looking for:

1. Obviously, system stability
2. No $$$ for OS
3. Somewhat ease of use (I can retain commands, so command line stuff isn't a big deal)

Whats your recommendations?

thx

:sw:

awwww man.. ok I'm a Mandriva 2007 whore, with cedega support

Played with fedora, red hat etc but it's (in my opinion) down to 2 (ubunuu or the new fedora) for a beginner, Mandriva is fooking awesome ( i'm sure people will disagree) but I have found Mandriva 2007 does everything I want from both a winblows background and an AS400 admin

It's all down to what ya wanna do with it as well, office type apps in a corporate environment are a nightmare with nix but for day to day home use... aaah pick yer distro man.. try it, goes wrong, try another.. no love lost

Buddy of mine said the same thing about Mandriva, so I'm gonna give it a try. He also said thats the great thing about linux, is you don't like it, try another one. Thanks Jod
