A simple introduction

On November 22, 1963, U.S. President John F. Kennedy was shot and killed while traveling down Elm Street, Dallas, Texas, in an open car in a motorcade. Everyone agrees about that.

Many people think that agencies of the U.S. Government have lied about or covered up details of the assassination.

For three decades, people thought the best proof of foul play was a 27-second home movie of the assassination taken by a Dallas dressmaker, Abraham Zapruder. It shows JFK’s head being blasted backwards and to his left:

This seems to tell us that the shooter was in front of the car on the right side, on the “grassy knoll” (small hill) next to Elm Street. But the U.S. Government insisted that JFK was shot by just one man hiding in a building far behind the limousine.

Things get more complicated when we look at the film frame-by-frame. As the bullet hits, JFK’s head first moves forwards:

The "back and to the left" mantra was the climax of the Oliver Stone film "JFK" and it was pretty convincing stuff. If the Zapruder film is to be believed (which I think it should) then there was a shot fired in front of the limo and not just from the Texas School Book Depository behind it.

People have been analyzing the most famous murder in history since the day it happened. CBS spent $1,000,000 on a de-bunking investigation in the 60's to counter the Warren Commision's official government findings of a lone gunman. CBS concurred with the Waren Report much to everyone's surprise.

So who shot Kennedy and what evidence is to be believed? I don't know who shot Kennedy for sure but I know who shot his supposed assassin Lee Harvey Oswald. The guy's name was Jack Ruby and he did it on live television. Ruby said he would take his secret motive to the grave with him and he did. He was the best proof available and no one got a staright answer from him for years - except perhaps his jailhouse admission to reporters that there was indeed a cover-up...

It has always been a great subject of debate. We will not know for many more years what really happened. I hope to be alive to learn what really happened. Zaprueder and his film just add to the cannon fodder that the gov't expect us blokes to believe.
