OK, maybe post doesn't belong in this section but it is regarding a freeware app. An app that is not working as of yesterday on my PC and I smell a rat. A big, micr@soft-sized rat.
Anyone who has a RapidShare.de account knows about RapidGet. It is the downloader they provide and it is handy as hell. It is more reliable than Flashget and will tell you whether or not the RapidShare.de links are active links. There are a bunch of other nice features but that ain't the problem.
Problem is that after six months of no problems and a TON of stuff downloaded downloaded by me with the app it simply won't run now. When I try to run it from the RapidGet portion of the RapidShare.de website I get this message on my PC:
"RapidGet.exe is not a valid Win32 application."
huh
That's crap. It has been valid day and night until my most recent micr@soft update. Now micr@soft is apparently locking me out of RapidShare.de the only way they know how. Maybe that's why the new RapidShare.com doesn't have a downloader - I don't know.
But I do know that I signed on for another month of service from both the .com and .de RapidShare sites and this is just another hurdle in the way. I think it's a micr@soft move to stop what they think could perhaps be piracy of some sort (or some ridiculous notion like that). What do you think? Is there any way around this?
Am I paranoid or am I right? Moonman - you use RapidShare.de so you would have an answer. Can you use RapidGet still? Anyone else? Am I nuts or am I right on the money on this little theory of mine?
Craptastic. Next thing you know there won't be any more RapidShare. That's why I'm keeping my subscriptions limited to month-to-month. And Bill Gates can kiss mine where the sun don't shine 'cause I'm still going to use RapidShare.de - I'm just going to have to download links individually. Arrrrrgh!
:ftw:
