its 30-day shareware but it will work full strength for now. This prog clears up many problems, but use the previously mentioned tools as well.
th3n00b 12-28-06, 12:59 AM Go to my computer. Right click on C: select "format" follow the steps from there.
silverdooty 12-28-06, 03:49 AM nothing abnormal there bud, most windows platforms have this turned on by default. if you are not wanting to see this error just head on over to ubuntu and download their latest release. it will most likely fix this (supposed) issue.

Don't install Ubuntu if you own an HP dv5000 series laptop! Holy shit, I just spent 4 days researching and reconfiguring this damn thing, everything works now though. I just got my Broadcom wireless card to work a few hours ago... Whoot!

moonman 12-28-06, 02:53 PM I just made my laptop a dual boot machine. Gotta love the ubuntu. Only took 2 days. Fast in linux terms. dl the live cd and check it out.
mr_wiggles 12-28-06, 03:07 PM stop looking at kitty porn and that wont happen :P
pvtpile 12-28-06, 08:58 PM Ewido cleans lots of adaware even the nasty stuff. If it won't let you download it they have an online scan.
I'm using PREVX, or PREVX1 it's free for the first thirty days, fully functional, cleaned the maddening virus bursters systray icon popups, the first program that did, although others found it. Don't believe that you need the right codec for that porn.
I liked the proggie so much I payed for a year license.
Ad Aware rocks. The key though, is to run it in safe mode.
DarkHelmet 12-29-06, 05:49 AM XCleaner, spybot S&D, adaware has been less effective in the last couple months (though, it may have improved, so its worth a try), ewido (aka avg antispyware) is good, spysweeper is pretty good. but, none of them can remove a really tricky infection. but, if you run them in safe mode, you will have the best chance. If you do boot to safe mode, clear out your system restore points, run xcleaner or ccleaner, then run at least 2 antispyware programs and keep running them until they either find nothing, or have items that keep returning, then restart and test, if the comp is good turn system restore back on. If all else fails, download hijackthis (make sure it's version 1.99.1), extract the file, create a folder in C:\ called Clean and copy the hijackthis file there, then rename the hijackthis file to Clean (some infections can tell when this is run, and will further hide themselves), run the program, close ALL windows other then the program, click on Do a system scan and save a logfile, then save the log and send it to me through a pm and I can help from there.
edit: Ive also heard good things about kaspersky - http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner
Couldn't resist ;- )
