Okay, boys and girls I need some help. I am about to reload my windows machine. I have reloaded windows before but never on my primary machine. In the past I have taken an old machine and just wiped it and started from scratch. In these instances there was little information on the box that I wanted.

In my present situation, I am going to reload a machine that I use hourly. There are several programs that I have configured and would like to preserve the settings. I am also interested in preserving my bookmarks and plugins for Mozilla FF.

I need all of the suggestions that I can get on things to do prior to my wiping the machine and reformatting the HD. I also am interested in making this machine a dual boot machine. Any ideas on that would be great. I also would like to create a few partitions.

I want to do alot of stuff that I am only vaugely familiar with. Please help. I would like to do everything on the front end to save time and effort on the back end.

Thanks you guys and gals rock the fooking house.:thanks: :sw: :nrocks:

Most of that stuff is a mystery to me as well. Making multiple paritions would seem to be pretty easy (once the reboot is done) using the Disk Manager utility. I had that option when I rebooted my secondary PC but decided not to do it (I didn't need to). But it was an option.

There is the File Settings Transfer Wizard that I'm sure you're familiar with. I'm not sure if this will help - but here is a link to get you started down that path if you are unfamiliar with the process.

Again - I am a computer novice (at best) and the best advice I can give you is to dig out your rolodex and call some old friends who you know that know something more about computers than you do. That usually works for me. It may not fix the problem but old friends usually have the clues necessary to get me on the right track...

I got it. Reloaded and then used partition magic to create 2 partitions. I am gonna get a larger hd before I go dual boot. Only have 75 gb as of now. Thanks all for the help.
