Cool. I hear those jumpjets burn a tremendous amount of fuel when taking off and had to overcome a lot of areodynamic problems during their development stage. But they got solved and the British military used the very effectively during the Faukland Islands campaign back in the 80's.

Yeah and they had a bad period a few years ago where they would dead bug, one vectored thrust gave out flipping it on it's back and crashing. Very inovative but I don't think it's ver practical.
The bottom picture has the harrier with 4 extra fuel tanks.

Doesn't the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) now in development and testing for all branches of the US military require vertical takeoff and landing as a required design component? I wonder if they have worked out the bugs for the JSF...

3 variants for the JSF. One for the airforce, one for the navy and one for the Marines/British. I'll put some stuff together.
