"Hellraiser" Remake 10-23-2006 (16:41:42)

Clive Barker recently announced that he will be involved in a remake of his classic horror film, "Hellraiser." The original, which Barker wrote and directed based on his own novel, revolved around the infamous "Pinhead" character and was made for a mere $900,000. Here's what Barker had to say about working on the remake:

"They're going to remake Hellraiser One with a lot more money and they've invited me to write it – the invitation came from Bob Weinstein – which I am going to do, on the basis that if I don't do it, it will be done in some way that I probably won't like!"

It seems that the Weinstein Company (http://www.worstpreviews.com/names.php?name=the%20weinstein%20company%20llc) will be in charge of the production, but Barker says that this time it will be done on a much bigger budget. The original went on to spawn seven sequels, but without Barker at the helm.

They always mess with perfectly good movies. Stupid idea, but I'm sure I'll see it anyway.

I agree blackspy, but just think how good they could make it with a decent budget and Barker back in charge... will be awesome

Definitely would have potential to be great, remade with a better budget. It seems though that some of those kind of movies are great because of the lack of budget and the creative ways they do things to make up for the underfunding. Remakes with high budgets tend to add nothing except special effects, snazzy soundtracks and bigger name actors.

Who knows... like I said, I'm sure I'll be one of those who definitely will see it. Hopefully they'll do a good job.

as long as it sticks closer to the short story it was made from. Barker got kinda miffed about what the movie industry did to his story the first time.
